This book kept me interested form page one all the way through. I couldn't put it down. I couldn't wait to see what happened next.
You realize how much of a good life we have now, and how strong this woman/mother was to survive both physically and emotionally.
For me I will be a stronger woman from her strength given to me.
I just finished reading this book and I must say that I enjoyed it. I love historical fiction. This made me think about two issues I really had not considered. The first was the fact that Tory families were persecuted during this time. I really have only read about Colonist families and their lives. The second, which goes even deeper, and that is the role of women and their lack of rights. Men controlled everything and unfortunately that remains the case, even in this day and age in some countries! The book was engrossing, the characters and events believable and I found it a very good read.
I was given this book to read by a friend who was the authors cousin. Its been a long time since I've read such a good book. The author does a good job of describing the characters and having the reader feel their happiness and their pain. The book keeps you guessing as to whats going to happen next, with its many twists and turns. I'd love for the author to write a sequel or a series.
